Welcome, Dear Holiday Shoppers!

I am Deepyanti - Paaro's creatrix. I was born and raised in Jaipur, Rajasthan - a beautiful state in north-west India. The state is famous for its wealth of arts, crafts, food and traditions. I created Paaro with a vision to 'bring my home with me' to Portland Oregon.

Hand-block printing is an age-old craft that originated in Rajasthan hundreds of years ago and passed down across generations of artisans. The art is generated through a painstaking, laborious process where the design is first carved into teakwood using chisels and other tools. This is followed by dipping the various blocks into inks and stamping them one at a time by hand, each block aligning to the previous one, creating the full hand-block printed pattern. I work directly with these artisans to bring my designs to life. Our processes are fair-trade and the artisans are fairly compensated for their time and effort.
